£5m price tag on rugby club’s site

A major rugby and cricket club grounds in County Down has gone on sale with an asking price of £5m.
Holywood Rugby and Cricket Club at Kerr Park in Holywood, which encompasses 4.5 acres, already benefits from residential planning permission.
Stephen Deyermond of TDK Comercial Property Consultants, said: "Holywood is one of the principal towns in north Down and is considered one of the most attractive areas in Northern Ireland. "Holywood benefits from excellent transport links from the train station in Holywood and George Best Belfast City Airport, which is 5 minutes away by car." The firm has been instructed by North Down Borough Council and Holywood Rugby Football and Cricket Club. The site includes a rugby pitch and clubhouse. The rugby and cricket club is set to relocate to new council-funded facilities. The deadline for offers is 12pm on October 20 and the council requires at least £5m for the site.
"Unconditional offers over the asking price will have first preference," a spokesman for TDK said. "The council may assess favourably any proposal that has the potential to create permanent jobs within the borough of North Down."
TDK is also acting for North Down Council in the sale of property at Hamilton Road in Bangor, including Hamilton House and Sea Scout Hall. The council is to consider a partnership with a builder or developer for redevelopment of the site. TDK said "The sale of the property at Hamilton Road will be used to fund a new council community facility including two main halls, and various minor halls. It is envisaged that that the facility will cost in the region of £1.2m to build. "The council realises in the current economic environment that it will be challenging to sell the property on Hamilton Road. "That is why, in order to achieve their desire to complete the community facility, they are prepared to consider a partnership agreement with a builder or developer."
